A couple of items in the news recently are evidence that the MVP KB approach I talk about in my book is the right idea at the right time.

The first was a story in the Guardian from a couple of weeks ago, about how uncertainty in the economic/political arena is slowing hiring. It’s something backed up by a client of mine, who has been unable to fill a knowledge management role in their organization due to a hiring freeze because of the uncertainty. (I’ll include a link to the Guardian story and other news sources in the “Something to read” section below.)

Last week, I came across an article at Smart Customer Service that discussed why many knowledge management initiatives fail:

“Less than half of organizations have dedicated roles for knowledge management, yet successful KM programs require intentional investment in staffing, communication, reporting, and recognition.”
